Under the hood, Fogbender supports working with ranges of messages—“given a contiguous block of messages from A to B, do something.” One of the things you can do with a range is reply: this creates a new message linked to the original block in the same room, making the context easy to revisit.
We see replies as humane threads: they keep the context in view, so readers don’t have to open a bunch of unnamed side rooms just to follow the conversation.
Replies create bi-directional links, making it easy to jump back to the original message—especially useful when the original is far enough back that it’s no longer visible on the same screen.
